Hi! It’s Produced by a Girl, and we’re thrilled to spotlight Kyoto indie pop duo Shake My Days and their shimmering new single, “Someday, Be Mine.” Written by vocalist Mitsuki, this track is a heartfelt burst of youthful longing, wrapped in jangly guitars and sunlit melodies. Shake My Days have always had a gift for blending nostalgic guitar tones with dreamy, cinematic textures, but here they open up even more, letting us feel the rush, the nerves, and the gentle ache of first love. Mitsuki’s warm vocals and the song’s quietly hopeful lyrics invite you to linger in that moment when you wish someone would stay just a little longer. Drawing from Japanese indie pop, alternative pop, dream pop, and classic guitar-pop, the duo create a sound that’s delicate, sincere, and full of emotional nuance. With recent international buzz from United By Pop, Visual Atelier 8, Direct Actu, and more, Shake My Days are building a world that glows with city lights and understated feeling.
Q1. “Someday, Be Mine” really wraps up that magical, heart-on-your-sleeve feeling of first love; the kind where hope, uncertainty, innocence, and even a touch of selfishness all swirl together. Mitsuki, when you were creating this track, which part of that emotional whirlwind did you feel most drawn to capture and keep alive in the song?
Mitsuki:
I wanted to preserve the emotions that naturally and honestly flowed from my heart without trying to dress them up or make them seem more dramatic than they were. Whether it was happiness, uncertainty, hope, or longing, I tried to express those feelings as truthfully as possible in the lyrics.

Q2. Your music is such a vibrant mix: those cool guitars, nostalgic indie rock vibes, and heartfelt Japanese songwriting all come together to create something that feels both bright and deeply emotional. How do you find the flow state for your music between youthful energy and the bittersweet sense that time keeps moving, even when you wish you could hold on to a moment or a person just a little longer?
Showky:
When teenagers express what they genuinely feel in their own words, it’s natural that those messages resonate strongly with people of the same generation. As we grow older, however, we often begin to view those same emotions from a slightly more distant and reflective perspective.
I felt that if we could incorporate musical elements that resonate across generations, listeners who are much older than Mitsuki might be reminded of emotions they once carried themselves. In that sense, perhaps Shake My Days finds its balance by expressing both perspectives at the same time—the immediacy of youth and the nostalgia of looking back.

Q3. Shake My Days has been growing a global fanbase all the way from Kyoto, due to your independent releases and visually stunning music videos. What does it feel like to craft songs that are so rooted in Japanese romance and memory, yet still connect with listeners everywhere, especially for people who might hear their own first love stories reflected in your music?
Mitsuki:
I’ve realized that the feeling of being in love is something people can relate to regardless of language or nationality.
Whether someone is experiencing their first love right now or looking back on it as a cherished memory, I would be very happy if this song helps them reconnect with those feelings and brings them a little happiness.
