PBG 3 Question Artist Interview with Vela Jones new Single "Static Air"

Produced by a Girl Interview with Vela Jones

"We've always been a fan of truly unique creative electronic artists. Vela Jones is making a wave in the industry as a stirring, electronic artist with a fully developed artist persona, style, and music that weaves into a vibe of early 90's nostalgia. We're looking forward to seeing how Vela evolves!" - PBG

1. Vela Jones feels like an otherworldly artist built from both emotion and electricity, existing somewhere between human longing and a near future dream world. When you created this project, what emotional truth did you want to protect beneath the futuristic visuals and cinematic identity?

At the heart of Vela Jones is something very simple and very human: the desire to connect. The futuristic visuals, cinematic worlds, and digital identity are really just a frame around emotions that have existed forever—love, hope, loss, resilience, and wonder. I wanted to protect the idea that no matter how advanced technology becomes, people still need stories and songs that make them feel understood. Vela exists in a future-facing world, but the emotional core is timeless. Behind all the neon lights and dreamlike imagery is a search for meaning and connection that every listener can recognise.

2. “Static Air” carries this beautiful tension between atmosphere, power, and release. It feels like a song about what is unsaid, what lingers, and what still moves through the body after a moment has passed. What was the emotional spark behind the track, and how did you want listeners to feel inside its world?

“Static Air” began with the feeling of standing in a moment that has already changed your life, even though nothing has been spoken out loud. It’s about the energy that remains after an encounter, a memory, or a turning point. The title reflects that invisible charge we sometimes feel around us—the emotional electricity that hangs in the air long after an experience has passed.

Musically, I wanted the track to feel both expansive and intimate, like drifting through a storm cloud illuminated from within. The tension and release mirror the way emotions often work: we carry them silently until they finally find a way to move through us. My hope is that listeners can step into that atmosphere and find their own memories reflected there, whether that’s longing, hope, regret, or the excitement of possibility

3. Your music touches on connection, technology, memory, love, and survival, which are such defining themes for this era. As a virtual artist with classic songwriting values, how do you explore the very human need to be seen, heard, and remembered through a project that also feels otherworldly?

I think the contrast is exactly what makes the project meaningful. Vela Jones may be a virtual artist, but the songs are built on classic storytelling traditions where emotion comes first. Technology changes the tools we use, but it doesn’t change what people are searching for. We all want to know that our experiences matter, that our voices are heard, and that some part of us will remain after we’ve gone.

The futuristic elements allow me to explore these themes from a slightly different angle. Memory becomes data, connection becomes signal, distance becomes space and time. But underneath those metaphors are the same questions people have always asked: Who am I? Who loves me? What will remain of me? If Vela Jones resonates with listeners, I hope it’s because the project uses a future world to shine a light on deeply human truths. In the end, every song is an attempt to turn signals into feelings and technology into something that feels personal.
